Believe nothing

18 Nov

Believe Nothing

It is much easier to believe that it’s snowing, than to experience the snow. If you just believe, you can stay inside, stay warm and avoid the cold. That’s why people are led up the garden path by others beliefs. It’s easier and warmer. And all this ‘believing stuff’ starts in kindergarten. In the context of your spiritual or personal growth, believe nothing, experiment and test everything, in the laboratory of your own experience. Only then will you be able to separate truth from falsehood, reality from illusion, and lead others with integrity. Challenge and check at least one belief everyday. And if it’s found wanting, chuck it or change it. Challenge, check, then chuck or change, now that’s a master at work.

Nichts glauben

Create Continuously

Every day is an opportunity to be creative – the canvas is your mind, the brushes and colours are your thoughts and feelings, the panorama is your story, the complete picture is a work of art called, ‘my life’. Be careful what you put on the canvas of your mind today – it matters.

Song for you

14 Nov

So today I wrote a song for you
Cause a day can get so long
And I know its hard to make it through
When you say theres something wrong

So Im trying to put it right
Cause I want to love you with my heart
All this trying has made me tight
And I dont know even where to start

Maybe thats a start

Cause you know its a simple game
That you play filling up your head with rain
And you know you are hiding from your pain
In the way, in the way you say your name

And I see you
Hiding your face in your hands
Flying so you wont land
You think no one understands
No one understands

So you hunch your shoulders and you shake your head
And your throat is aching but you swear
No one hurts you, nothing could be sad
Anyway youre not here enough to care

And youre so tired you dont sleep at night
As your heart is trying to mend
You keep it quiet but you think you might
Disappear before the end

And its strange that you cannot find
Any strength to even try
To find a voice to speak your mind
When you do, all you wanna do is cry

Well maybe you should cry

And I see you hiding your face in your hands
Talking bout far-away lands
You think no one understands
Listen to my hands

And all of this life
Moves around you
For all that you claim
Youre standing still
You are moving too
You are moving too
You are moving too
I will move you

BRAVING THE ABYSS

12 Nov

Meditate, because this moment will be of significance for you. Whenever somebody dies, somebody you have been deeply related to, someone with whom you have been very intimate, somebody with whom you have been happy and unhappy, sad and angry, somebody with whom you have known all the seasons of life and somebody who has somehow become a part of you and you have become a part of him or her — when somebody like that dies, it is not only a death that occurs outside, it is a death that occurs inside also. [She] was holding a part of your being, so when she dies, that part in your being also dies. She was fulfilling something in you. She disappears and wounds are left.

We have many holes in our being. Because of those holes we seek the company of the other, the love of the other. By the other’s presence we somehow manage to fill those holes. When the other disappears, those holes are again there…yawning abysses opening. You may have forgotten about them, but you will feel them and the pain. So use these moments for a deep meditation because sooner or later those holes will be filled again. These holes will again disappear. Before it happens it is good to enter those holes, to enter that emptiness that she will leave behind her.

So use these moments. Sit silently, close your eyes, go inside. And just see what has happened. Don’t think about the future, don’t think about the past. Don’t go into the memories because that is futile. Just go in. What has happened to you? She is dead; now what has happened to you? What is happening to you? Just go into that process. That will reveal many things in you. You will be completely transformed if you can penetrate those holes. You will not try to fill them again, but still you can love.

One can love without in any way taking the other inside and fulfilling some deep need there. One can love as a luxury…because one has to share and one wants to share. Then love is no more a need; you are not hiding your wounds behind it.

So go into these wounds, go into this emptiness, go into this absence, and watch — that’s one thing.

The second thing: remember that life is really fleeting, slipping by…so momentary. We live in a magic world. We go on deluding ourselves. Again and again the delusion drops. Again and again reality erupts. Again and again somebody dies and you are reminded that life is not reliable, that one should not depend too much on life. One moment it is there, another moment it is gone. It is a soap bubble — just a small prick and it is gone. In fact the more you understand life, the more full of wonder you are about how it exists. Then death is not the problem; life becomes the problem. Death seems natural.

It is a miracle that life exists — such a temporary thing, such a momentary thing. And not only does it exist, people trust it. People depend on it, people rely on it. They put their whole being at its feet — and it is just an illusion, a dream. Any moment it is gone and one is left crying. With it is gone the whole effort, the whole sacrifice that you had made for it. Suddenly everything disappears. So watch this — this momentary, dream-like illusory life.

And death is coming to everybody. We are all standing in the queue, and the queue is continuously coming closer to death. She disappears; the queue is a little less. She had made space for one person more. Every person dying brings you closer to your own death, so every death is basically your death. In every death one is dying and coming closer to the full stop. Before it happens, one has to become as much aware as possible.

If we trust life too much, we tend to become unconscious. If we start doubting life — this so-called life which always ends in death — then we become more aware. And in that awareness a new sort of life starts, its doors open — the life which is deathless, the life which is eternal, the life which is beyond time.

Give yourself

8 Nov

What you get wont kill you but care for what youre giving!

One of my favourite quotes (by Depeche Mode) is so significant: it does not really matter what you GET from life. When you are deeply rooted in yourself, nothing can take away your true bliss and happiness.

But it is very important what you GIVE:                                                                                                                                                               too many people give nothing. They take care of themselves, they SAY they WANT to help. But they actually DO nothing. Those people will stay poor, no matter how much money they have.                                                                                                                      Too many people spend all their money with shopping: expensive clothes, posh hair styles, big cars…. But inside their heart they are empty because all these THINGS do not matter at all.                                                                                                                                    And some people find excuses: they say: “Well, I would like to help but i have not much myself.” Or: “Well, i would like to help, but I dont know where to start.” Or: “Can i really trust the organisations?” These ones will never get rich, cause they cut off the flow- of money, of love, of joy.

But trust me: it is SO easy to give, no matter how much money, time or knowledge you have. In the western world we live in a safe environment, no one ever has to fear hunger or TRUE poverty. But in too many parts of the world people dont have enough food, proper education or merely drinking water. And it is on us to share. It does not matter how much you give or if it is money or time. (Yes, we alle know- you either have time OR money… if you have BOTH and dont share- screw you!)

And even small amounts can help- if we all do as much as we can. Or at least a little to start with….

One suggestion I have here is a wonderful project: at “School for Life” in Thailand orphants are given a home, education and food. They have lost their families to AIDS, Tsunamis or other dramas. (Find more HERE)

Right now they are lacking money to make sure the kids will get through the winter properly. They need support. And I was thinking of a beautiful way to help: if all readers here would give just 3 Euros (hey- that is less than what???: a snack? a pack of cigarettes? a drink? a taxi ride?….) they could make sure to get through the next months. (or make it 10 Euros and skip the next movie or just the popcorn and nachos ; )))…  I would be SO proud of you and grateful if WE could make this possible together! It is SO simple. Here are the bank details of School for Life (you find them on their website as well, just put in “WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS”):

Hilde Robinsohn Stiftung
Verwendungszweck: Schule des Lebens
Berliner Sparkasse
BLZ 10050000
Kto. 2040010036

I will go and visit the “School for life” in December and will try to help more by working on different projects with the children…. And you can visit as well: there is a possibilty to come as a “tourist” and help with your mere visit. The money generated by the visitors goes towards the project as well. So if you are still looking for a winter escape….. : ))

No matter WHAT you decide to do- just let it NOT be one thing: to do NOTHING!!!

hoping for helping friends and sending you lots of light,

Kerstin

Halte durch!

3 Nov

Halte ich durch
wenn die Nacht kein Ende nimmt ?
Halte ich durch
wenn der Tag mit Angst beginnt ?

(Hanne Haller)

… vielleicht find ich eine Melodie für die,
mit gebrochenem Herzen,
mit dem Pfeil in der Brust
… halte durch, halte durch, halte durch…
es wird alles vorbei gehen,
wenn wir füreinander einstehen,
dann könn’ die bösen Geister heim gehen
… halte durch, halte durch, halte durch!
